Leadwith Manager Training FAQs
Learn how the Leadwith manager training programs work, how teams typically implement them, and what to expect when launching training for people managers.
How long is each training session?
Each Leadwith training contains 2-hours of session material designed to to be split equally between information delivery (what you want people to learn) and discussion and activities (how most people learn best). The modular structure makes it easy to break into shorter segments if your organization prefers bite-sized delivery over multiple shorter sessions. Or it can be combined with additional sessions to deliver a half-day or full-day retreat.
How many times can we run it?
Unlimited times. Your one-time purchase is a permanent internal use license. Run it with one cohort or twenty, across one location or many. There are no per-use or per-cohort fees, ever.
Do we need a professional facilitator or trainer to run this?
No. Leadwith materials are designed for an internal HR, Learning & Development, or other leader to run. You get a word-for-word facilitator script on every slide, a facilitator guide covering logistics, common questions, and engagement tips, and demo videos of the full training delivered by two experienced facilitators.
How much preparation time does a facilitator need?
Most facilitators are ready to deliver their first session in 5–10 hours of focused preparation. That includes reading through the slides and script, watching the demo facilitation videos, customizing the deck for your organization, sending out invites and organizing logistics using our templates. The facilitator guide walks you through each step.
How many managers can participate in a training cohort?
It’s up to you. To allow for meaningful interaction between participants and the facilitator, we recommend cohorts of about 12–16 participants. This size is small enough for everyone to actively participate while still providing diverse perspectives for a rich discussion.
With a single purchase, organizations receive a license to run the training as many times as needed, allowing you to deliver the program to multiple cohorts over time.
What does customization actually involve?
Each Leadwith program includes a slide deck with placeholder slides for your organization’s data (things like engagement survey results or demographic breakdowns) which are some of the most powerful motivators for managers. You’ll also add your dates, facilitator name, and can optionally adapt the script to your voice. The slides themselves are fully editable in Google Slides or PowerPoint. You can read more in our How it Works section, or download sample materials and see it for yourself.
Does the training work for virtual delivery?
Yes. The facilitator guide includes specific guidance for virtual delivery, including how to run the small group discussions and keep participants engaged remotely.
Can multiple people on our team facilitate?
Yes. Your license covers internal delivery by any number of facilitators within your organization. Many teams use the demo facilitation videos to prepare multiple facilitators to run cohorts simultaneously.
Is this Leadwith manager training suitable for first-time managers?
Yes. The Leadwith manager trainings are well suited for first-time managers who are learning core management skills, such as setting expectations, giving feedback, and supporting employee development. At the same time, many organizations find that the training is equally valuable for more experienced managers because it helps reinforce consistent management practices, is based on research-backed content that challenges long-time managers, and covers advanced and tricky topics, like undermining bias and having difficult conversations.
How is this different from an online learning platform like LinkedIn Learning or Coursera?
Those platforms deliver content to individuals asynchronously so individuals are typically going through the training alone, without the opportunity to ask questions or discuss new concepts with their peers. While those platforms can be deployed at scale, unfortunately, engagement on those platforms is often extremely low. Leadwith is built for live, cohort-based delivery which allows managers learn together, discuss with peers, and hold each other accountable. Research consistently shows that live, cohort-based training drives more sustained behavior change than self-paced e-learning.
